The Carolina Hurricanes have added David Marcoux to Bill Peters' new coaching staff as goaltending coach.

"David has 25 years of experience as a goalie coach and his results speak for themselves," general manager Ron Francis said in a statement Tuesday. "This completes what we feel is a very strong and experienced coaching staff."

Marcoux was on the Calgary Flames' coaching staff from 2003 to 2009, helping goalie Miikka Kiprusoff become a Vezina Trophy winner and a Hart Trophy finalist in 2005-06. Marcoux also has worked with Canes goalie Cam Ward, who played for the Lowell Lock Monsters n the 2004-2005 season when the Canes and Flames shared the AHL affiliate.

Before coming to the NHL, Marcoux spent 12 years working with goalies at Profil Hockey Cap-Jeunesse, a sports academy in St-Jerome, Que. He also held the goaltender coach position for the Hull Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 1997-2001, helping Hull twice reach the league finals.
