Duke senior wide receiver Jamison Crowder was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list on Tuesday as one of the nation’s top receivers entering the 2014 season.
Crowder, from Monroe, eclipsed the ACC’s single-season record last season with 108 receptions. His 1,360 receiving yards in 2013 are the most of any returning player in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
He was an All-America second team choice at punt returner and an All-ACC first team selection at wide receiver last season.
• East Carolina’s Justin Hardy (Vanceboro) is on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List for the second straight year.
A two-time All-Conference USA receiver, Hardy hauled down an ECU and league-best 114 passes for 1,284 yards a year ago to establish new single-season Pirate records to go along with his eight touchdowns.
• Duke redshirt senior offensive guard Laken Tomlinson is a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Nominees represent their sport’s finest in volunteerism and leadership.
• Defensive end Christopher Roberts, a redshirt junior at Saint Augustine’s, was named to the USA College Football Preseason Division II All-America Honorable Mention team.
Roberts tied for fourth in the CIAA in sacks (8.5) and tied for sixth in tackles for loss (14.5).
• Senior Dominique Marsh of Saint Augustine’s was nominated for the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Duke senior Kelly Cobb was invited to train with the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team July 15-22 in Seattle, Wash.
