— An Elon man has pleaded guilty in a crash that killed two motorcycle riders last year.

The Times-News of Burlington reported (http://bit.ly/1jPU4XJ) that Michael Joseph Ahlgren entered the plea in Graham on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said Ahlgren was driving a pickup that hit a motorcycle from behind, killing 41-year-old Michael Turner and his wife, 40-year-old Shanon Turner on Oct. 11. Prosecutors say the Turners were in Elon and had slowed to make a turn when they were hit.

Ahlgren was placed on probation for two years and must perform 500 hours of community service. Ahlgren also must pay $29,000 in restitution and a $1,000 fine.

He's also been ordered to surrender his driver's license.

Ahlgren was traveling about 55 mph and said he didn't see them until it was too late.
