According to radio communications, a woman was found lying on the ground beside a white truck in the motel’s parking lot. She had multiple gunshot wounds, officials said.

The suspect fled before deputies arrived, according to radio communications.

At the scene, deputies took photos of a white Ford F150 pickup truck parked near the back side of the motel. A pair of flip-flop sandals and a white cup also were beside the truck. Multiple shell casings lay on the ground.

Shortly after 6 p.m., radio communications indicated a victim was taken to Duke Hospital. No additional details were immediately available.
