KANSAS CITY, Mo. — English soccer clubs Fulham and Sunderland are two of the teams that have shown interest in acquiring Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler, he said during a radio appearance Wednesday morning.
Appearing on "The Border Patrol" on WHB AM, Besler provided no deadline for when his professional future will be determined. His agent, Eddie Rock, previously offered a timetable that indicated his client's future would be resolved either late this week or early next week. Rock also said there were several teams who had displayed interest in Besler.
The interest from Sunderland, an English Premier League club, and Fulham, a club recently relegated to the Football Championship League, doesn't necessarily mean either team has officially offered Sporting Kansas City the required transfer fee to acquire Besler.
Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes said over the weekend that no team has put in a transfer offer large enough for the club to consider moving Besler overseas.
