Charleston Southern extends Lake's contract

The Associated PressJuly 17, 2014

— Charleston Southern has signed baseball coach Stuart Lake to a four-year contract extension through 2019.

The school announced the new deal for Lake on Thursday. Lake has been with the Buccaneers for six seasons and led them to a 30-26 mark this past spring for the team's most wins since 2000. Lake is third in school history with 134 career victories.

Charleston Southern did not disclose financial terms of the contract.

Lake thanked the school's administration for its commitment and says he's excited about the chance to keep building the Buccaneers' program.

Lake was the 2011 Big South Conference coach of the year. The team has finished third in the league's South Division the past two seasons.
