CHAPEL HILL -- Five UNC-Chapel Hill students will face trial at 2 p.m. today on charges of disorderly conduct during a protest at the chancellor's office.

Students occupied the lobby of South Building for more than two weeks in April and May in protest of the university's refusal to join a program they said would improve wages and conditions for workers who make clothing with the UNC logo.

Linda Gomaa, now a senior, was handcuffed and placed in the front passenger seat of a campus patrol car. Four other students were also handcuffed and escorted out of the building into a white police van.

One student, Sarah Hirsch, refused to walk out of Moeser's office and was lifted by her elbows into the lobby.

Salma Mirza, a 2008 alumna, refused to get up from a chair and was wheeled out of the building. At the steps, she stood and walked to the van.

Also facing charges are Thomas Robert Mattera and Tim Stallmann.
