A large statue of Buddha, one of many on the grounds of the Chùa Van Hanh-N.C. Buddhist Association Temple in Raleigh, seems to radiate peace. The Vietnamese Buddhist temple on Forestville Road has statues of Buddha, Kwan Yin and others along walking paths on six acres. A monastery on the grounds is home to four monks. At Sunday services, attendees pray, meditate and chant. To hear Vietnamese Buddhist chants go to www.newsobserver.com/lifestyles/home_garden/.

Hear the sound of Vietnamese chanting during Vu Lan Festival, also known as Mother’s Day in Vietnam.
