You may have seen those taco trucks rolling around town serving fresh tacos from the window, and I'll bet almost all off you have patronized an ice cream truck once or twice.

But have you ever seen a cupcake truck?

Or, more accurately, a cupcake Airstream trailer?

Tanya Catolos, the pastry chef at the Washington Duke Inn, is "head cake girl" of a new enterprise called DaisyCakes that will begin rolling around Durham next weekend.

DaisyCakes will sell fresh pastries, coffee and, of course, cupcakes from a 1978 Airstream trailer, which will be parked near the farmers market at Foster and Geer streets in downtown Durham every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning next week.

Other than that, you may find the DaisyCakes trailer parked at other special events or simply floating around Durham on a nice day.

Catolos may be familiar to Triangle diners, having worked at Nana's Chophouse in Raleigh and the Carolina Inn.

She said she thought first of opening a regular cupcake shop, but soon found that that type of business was too expensive.

Plus, peddling baked goods from a vintage silver trailer seemed like more fun.

"I thought it's so retro -- just like cupcakes," Catolos said.

For now, Catolos will keep her day job at the Washington Duke Inn, but if DaisyCakes really takes off, she said, you never know.

In downtown Raleigh, Revive Raleigh, a massage clinic that specializes in quick 15- or 30-minute sessions, opened this week on the second floor at 115 E. Hargett St. On the third floor of the same building, a yoga studio, The Studio @ Hargett, has also just opened.

In Raleigh's Mission Valley shopping center off Western Boulevard, the former Rock-Ola restaurant has been leased by Samuel Ibarra, who plans an El Cerro Bar & Grill there.

The Ibarra family may be familiar to Triangle diners, with various family members being affiliated with several local eateries, including El Rodeo and Jibarra Modern Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Lounge.

The restaurants are all owned and operated independently of each other.
