UNC-Chapel Hill's 2008-09 season expands to 31 programs in 42 performances, organized into seven themed series with a slate of special events.

Inbal Pinto Dance Company, Nov. 5; Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Nov. 21; Compagnie Marie Chouinard in "Orpheus and Eurydice," March 25; Bolshoi Ballet in "Don Quixote," June 10.

Compagnie Heddy Maalem in "The Rite of Spring," Oct. 25; Druid Theatre Company in "The Shadow of the Glen" and "Playboy of the Western World," Oct. 29-30; and Teatro De Ciertos Habitantes in "Monsters and Prodigies: The History of the Castrati," Jan. 24.

DV8 Physical Theatre in "To Be Straight With You," Oct. 9-10; Ong Keng Sen and Theatreworks in "Vivien and the Shadows" Oct. 21; Builders Association with "Continuous City," Feb. 20-21. All series commissions or co-commissions.

Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet, featuring Béla Fleck with Casey Driessen and Ben Sollee, Sept. 11; Buckwheat Zydeco with Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, Oct. 3; Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers with Dr. John, Feb. 24.

Vanguard Jazz Orchestra: Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Legacy, Sept. 19; Branford Marsalis Quartet, Feb. 27 (part of the Carolina Jazz Festival); Vijay Iyer Trio, April 3.

Matthias Goerne, baritone, Nov. 14; Hilary Hahn, violin, Feb. 14; András Schiff, piano, Tuesday, April 7.
