When: 5 to 9 p.m. SundayWhere: Eva Perry Regional Library, 2100 Shepherd's Vineyard Drive, ApexWhat: A rock concert that celebrates all things Harry Potter.Who goes: All agesWhat to know before you go: Last year, Harry and the Potters rocked the North Regional Library in North Raleigh. About 300 people showed up to listen to the indie/punk/progressive duo who sing about the Harry Potter books. Lindsey Dunn, the young adult librarian at Eva Perry Regional Librarian, helped out at that concert and considered it a learning experience. Since 2006, she's hoped to bring wizard rock to Eva Perry. One of the goals of many wizard rockers is to promote literacy. She eventually contacted Harry and the Potters, really two brothers from Boston, and found out they were already planning the concert in North Raleigh."North Regional beat us to the punch," Dunn says. The crowd last year was so enthusiastic and excited about Harry and the Potters that Dunn and others decided the Triangle was big enough for more wizard rock. This time they sought the band Draco and the Malfoys (Draco Malfoy was Harry's rival for those who haven't read the books). The group, made up of two brothers from Rhode Island, actually was touring with several other wizard rock bands. So, on Sunday, Draco, along with The Remus Lupins, The Whomping Willows, and Justin Finch-Fletchley and the Sugar Quills, will perform. The library closes at 5 p.m. on Sundays so library services won't be disrupted. The concert will be outside. Dunn says vendors will sell food. And Camelot Treasures, the concert's sponsor, will sell Harry Potter-themed merchandise. The eclectic Cary store also will raffle off a leather sorting hat made by a local artist to recover the cost to bring in the bands, said Kirsten Vaughan, who owns the store with her husband.Concertgoers are encouraged to come early and dress as their favorite Harry Potter character, event or theme. All music is family friendly. For more information, go to www.wakegov.com/libraries or call 387-2100.
