Triangle picker Greg Hawks may be best known for his work with his country-rock band, the Tremblers. But the talented musician was born in Mount Airy and came of age in the heartland of North Carolina bluegrass. Now, Hawks returns to his roots with "Coming Home," his self-produced CD of mostly original bluegrass. Tonight, Hawks will celebrate its release with a concert at the ArtsCenter. On Monday, the Carolina Performing Arts series at UNC-Chapel Hill kicks off the new year with the season's most dynamic country/Americana show. The concert, featuring Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller, was added when Mary Chapin Carpenter canceled her 2007-2008 tour. The show sold out, but inquiries regarding the availability of tickets can be made by calling the box office at (919) 843-3333.
