Barren branches against a clear evening sky reflect into a puddle of rainwater at Lake Crabtree County Park. The 240-acre park offers a quiet place to unwind just feet away from the high speed world of I-40 and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Winter can be a rewarding time for nature lovers, assistant park manager Deborah Robertson says. "I think people enjoy the park year around, but with the leaves off the trees you can see the lake from pretty much everywhere. A lot of of people come into the park after work to recreate, do some hiking and mountain biking, and now you can get out the the park much easier."
About This Project

"The View" showcases the unique character of the people and places that form our community. The column explores the lives and relationships of the diverse groups that populate the Triangle. Anyone, regardless of age, race, cultural background or ethnicity, is a potential subject. We include the thoughts of those featured as they express how they view their own situation, allowing us a window into their lives.

Our approach to finding stories for the column varies. Often, we look for subjects to illustrate themes we want to explore. Other times, we may stumble across interesting subjects while on assignment or in our daily lives. We hope readers can use "The View" to enhance their understanding of their own community.
