The N&O's 10th annual travel photo contest is open for business. Until Nov. 3, we'll accept entries in three categories: Scenery, People and North Carolina. Winning entries will be published in the Nov. 30 Arts & Living section.

Who can enter: The contest is open to amateur photographers from The News & Observer's readership area. Winners of the 2007 contest may not enter. Only one entry per person is allowed (not one per category).

Contest year: Oct. 31, 2007, to Oct. 30, 2008.

Images: Photos can be color or black and white, printed or digital. Photos must accurately represent the subject; no digital manipulation is allowed.

Digital images: They should be 200 DPI JPEGs that are 10 inches wide or 10 inches deep. The file size cannot be larger than 4MB. Upload images to triangle.com/enjoy. We encourage you to enter this way.

Prints: If you must send a print, it can be of any dimensions from 3 by 5 inches to 8 by 10 inches. Mail them to Photo Contest, Features, The News & Observer, P.O. Box 191, Raleigh, NC 27602.

Details: Entries must include your name, address and daytime phone number. (If you are uploading to triangle.com/enjoy, this contact information will be provided when you register. However, it will not be posted on the site.) Also tell us the location and date of the photo, how you happened to take it and which category you're entering.

Scenery and People: Photos in these categories can be taken anywhere in the world.

North Carolina: Photos can come from anywhere in the state except the Triangle. In addition to first- and second-place winners, images that earn an honorable mention may be published in future sections.

Vote for your favorite photos at triangle.com/enjoy. Photos receiving the most points in each category will be published.
