Regarding the July 11 Business section article "The rare manufacturer that is adding workers":

While the growth and success of Bob Luddy's Captive-Aire is amazing, his most impressive accomplishment is his creation of Franklin Academy, the charter school he founded and built near Wake Forest. He has shown how a charter school can produce outstanding results with fewer resources than most public schools receive.

Many Triangle parents are sold on charter schools, such as Raleigh Charter High School and Franklin Academy, and believe that this is the direction education should take. Luddy has invested enormous time, energy and money in creating this charter school and deserves the recognition for meeting this challenge.
