The barrage of pro-illegal immigration articles in the Oct. 24 N&O has finally swayed my opinion.
The heart-wrenching piece about children crossing the border illegally without their parents has made me totally forget the $771 million we spend on the education of illegals in North Carolina and the $70 billion U.S. citizens pay for illegal immigrants to live here each year.
The article about the father and daughter reunion made me ashamed that I was worried about those American workers whose wages are 15 percent lower because of illegal immigrants or the fact that illegal aliens have re-introduced fatal diseases that American medicine vanquished years ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio and Chagas disease.
The Point of View article calling for in-state college tuition for illegals made me burst out in a chorus of "We Are The World" as I realized how ridiculous I had been to concern myself that only 8.6 percent of our poorest citizens' children earn bachelor's degrees.
Your editorial endorsed U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge, yet criticized him for his troubling anti-illegal immigration votes. How silly I was to believe Americans for Better Immigration, which actually gives him a D+ for his anti-illegal immigration voting.
Keep those pro-illegal immigrant puff pieces coming.
