Kay Hagan says she would have voted against a Wall Street bailout.

In a late-night news release on Wednesday, the Democratic U.S. Senate candidate said she would not have supported the bill that passed the Senate on Wednesday because it did not do enough for "everyday North Carolinians."

"It's a fix for Wall Street, not Main Street, and this isn't a situation where we can afford to only address half the problem," she said in a statement. "I've said that any new bailout legislation must add real accountability, oversight and protections for Main Street to ensure we never find ourselves in this position again."

Earlier Wednesday, Hagan had refused to commit, saying she didn't want a "rush to judgment."

At 5:13 p.m. Wednesday, Republican incumbent Elizabeth Dole sent out a release saying she would vote against the bailout. The Senate voted 74-25 to pass the bill around 9:22 p.m. Hagan's release followed at 10:16 p.m.
