RALEIGH - A man walked into a local hospital Sunday morning and said he'd been shot in a robbery attempt several hours earlier, police said.

The man had entry-and-exit bullet wounds to his arm, and the bullet had also struck his abdomen, police Lt. A.B. Lull said.

The man told police someone tried to steal his wallet at the intersection of New Bern and Idlewild avenues sometime early Sunday, Lull said. He was taken into surgery at WakeMed's Raleigh campus after speaking with police. His injuries weren't life threatening, Lull said.
