North Carolina's late U.S. senator, Jesse Helms, will lie in repose from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh.

The family will receive friends there from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, also at the church.

A private burial service for the family is scheduled after the funeral.

In Wingate, visitors can sign a memory book and tour the Jesse Helms Center, which is about 35 miles east of Charlotte, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For directions, go to www.jessehelmscenter.org.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole said Friday that flags at the U.S. Capitol were lowered to half-staff in honor of Helms. State flags also will fly at half-staff, beginning today until sunset Tuesday. A condolence book for visitors to sign will be available at the State Capitol.
