An Al-Anon family group meets today from 8 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Road, Raleigh. For more information, call (800) 243-4035 or visit www.alanonalateen6nc.org.

The group meets in Geneva Hall on the north side of the church and has meetings for youth from ages 13 to 21 and ages 8 to 12.

In a posting at share. triangle.com, the group says: "The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid recovery."

FIESTA TO CELEBRATE COSTA RICAN CULTURE

A Costa Rican Fiesta is planned for Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Wheeler Park, 6404 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, between shelters 8 and 9. Admission is free.

The fiesta is sponsored by the Costa Rican Association of North Carolina, a newly formed group in the state. Activities will include folk dances, giant clowns, traditional Costa Rican food and a cultural exhibit on Costa Rica.

Event organizers seek volunteers for the family-oriented activities as well as individuals who would like to share their artistic talent or their Costa Rican experience at the fiesta. For more information, call 417-3326.
