Holly Springs splits police, fire chief jobs

HOLLY SPRINGS - The town has a new police chief.

John Herring, a lieutenant with the Holly Springs police, will take over the department Saturday.

Herring is stepping into a new position. Town leaders recently reorganized Holly Springs' Public Safety Department into separate fire and police departments.

The town's current public safety chief, Cecil Parker, is slated to become fire chief.
