The town has a new police chief.John Herring, a lieutenant with the Holly Springs police, will take over the department Saturday.Herring is stepping into a new position. Town leaders recently reorganized Holly Springs' Public Safety Department into separate fire and police departments.The town's current public safety chief, Cecil Parker, is slated to become fire chief.
