CHAPEL HILL - The Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History will present "Radicals in Black and Brown: Palante, People's Power, and Common Cause in the Black Panthers and the Young Lords Organization" Saturday through March 2.

The exhibit, in the Stone Center at UNC-Chapel Hill, will focus on the history, interaction and corresponding activities of the groups, which arose in similar circumstances and suffered similar fates. The exhibit also highlights areas where the two groups had distinctive and unique agendas.

An opening reception and symposium will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Stone Center. Former leaders including Jose "Cha Cha" Jimenez, Mickey Melendez and Kathleen Cleaver will lead discussions on how popular imagery and visual representations influenced the public's perception of the groups.
