MASON GETS FIRST WIN: A strong start from Chris Mason propelled the Durham Bulls past the defending Governors' Cup Champion Richmond Braves on Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Mason (1-3) threw 5.2 scoreless innings to earn his first Triple-A win, fanning eight Braves and allowing only six hits and two walks. Nick DeBarr and Dale Thayer came on in relief to finish off the shutout for the Bulls.

HAMPTON TO FACE BULLS: Durham fans will get to see another big-league lefty today when Atlanta's Mike Hampton makes a rehab start for Richmond in the 11:05 a.m. game against Durham. Hampton, who hasn't pitched since 2005 because of a series of injuries, has a 138-101 career record with a 3.97 ERA.
