KNIGHTS 7, BULLS 3

KNIGHTS TAKE FINALE: The Bulls closed out their three-game homestand with a loss to the Charlotte Knights in front of a capacity crowd of 10,293 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

David Cook hit a two-run homer in the first for Charlotte, and Jason Bourgeois went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

COSTNER RETURNS: Meanwhile, the city of Durham will celebrate the 20th anniversary of "Bull Durham" today at Durham Bulls Athletic Park as the film's star, Kevin Costner, will perform with his band Modern West. Will McFarlane will also perform, and a fireworks display will round out the festivities. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

TRANSACTIONS: The Tampa Bay Rays recalled infielder Ben Zobrist from the Bulls and also purchased the contract of shortstop Reid Brignac after placing shortstop Jason Bartlett on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a sprained right knee.

To clear room for Brignac, right-handed pitcher Mitch Talbot was optioned to Durham.
