Two teams from North Carolina grabbed spots in the men's basketball Sweet 16 on Sunday -- but one of them caught most folks by surprise.Davidson College, for the first time since 1969, advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a stunning 74-70 upset of No. 2 seed Georgetown at the RBC Center in Raleigh. The 10th-seeded Wildcats, with a student population of 1,700 on their campus near Charlotte, erased a 17-point second-half deficit to give America a little guy to root for in a tournament dominated by heavyweights. One of those, No. 1 seed UNC, trounced Arkansas, 108-77, at the RBC to move into the Round of 16 for the second straight year. But that win almost seemed a side note to Davidson's thrilling victory on the same court a couple of hours earlier. The Tar Heels, the only ACC team left in the men's tournament, advance to play Washington State on Thursday in Charlotte. Davidson will head to Detroit, where it will face Wisconsin on Friday.Duke, a team many expected to be in the Sweet 16, was sent home by West Virginia on Saturday. With two more wins each, UNC and Davidson could meet in the Final Four on April 5. Improbable? Sure, but so was Davidson's upset Sunday.
