East Carolina positioned itself for the upcoming Conference USA softball tournament by splitting a doubleheader with visiting UAB.

The Pirates won the opener 3-1 and dropped the nightcap 2-0 at the ECU Softball Field in Greenville.

ECU (34-27, 9-12 C-USA) pushed across two runs when UAB pitcher Kayla Harris was called twice for an illegal pitch. ECU also scored on an error.

ECU pitcher Brooke Swann (22-18) allowed just one hit over the last four innings, as she picked up the 30th victory of her career, moving her into a tie for 10th place on the Pirates' career list. Her 22 wins tie her for ninth place on the East Carolina single-season chart.

UAB (24-33, 9-14) won the nightcap with two runs in the fifth, on three hits. Harris drove in one with a fielder's choice, and Leigh Walker added an RBI single.

The teams meet again today at noon in their regular-season finale. The C-USA tournament begins Thursday in Houston.

North Florida won the first game 4-1, and Campbell came back to take the nightcap, 6-5.

In the suspended first game, which began on April 12 and was delayed because of inclement weather, the Ospreys (39-24, 13-9 Atlantic Sun) posted four runs in the first two innings.

In the second game, Littlejohn registered another pair of RBIs on her 11th homer of the year, a two-run shot, moving into sole possession of the Campbell season RBI record. She surpassed Shannon O'Bryan's mark of 61, set in 2001.

The Camels (39-24, 13-9) will travel to DeLand, Fla., for the Atlantic Sun tournament, where they will play Stetson at 1 p.m. Thursday in the first round.
