WHEN: 9 p.m.

WHERE: Smith Center, Chapel Hill

TV/RADIO: ESPN/WCHL-1360, WRDU-106.1

RECORDS: UNC 1-0; UK 0-1

OBSERVATIONS

A loss would drop Kentucky to 0-2 -- something the Wildcats have experienced only twice since 1926. In 2000-01, UK went on to finish 24-10 and share the SEC regular-season title. In 1975-76, the Wildcats were 20-10 and won the NIT.

WOMEN'S

ELON AT N.C. STATE

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Reynolds Coliseum

TV/radio: WKNC-88.1

OBSERVATIONS

The Wolfpack (2-0) opened its season with home victories over Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Charlotte over the weekend, claiming its invitational tournament. The Pack has won 37 of its past 38 non-conference home games.

The Pack holds a 3-0 record in the all-time series against Elon.

Senior point guard Shayla Fields and junior guard Nikitta Gartrell have led the way for the Pack. Fields is 137 points away from 1,000 for her career. By scoring 50 points over the first two contests, including 33 against Charlotte, she's well on her way.
