The Carolina Hurricanes retained a key player for their minor-league affiliate Monday, signing defenseman Bryan Rodney to a one-year contract.
Rodney started the season with the Elmira Jackals (ECHL), but became a stalwart on the blue line for the Albany River Rats (AHL) this season.
Rodney, who had 15 points in 42 games with the River Rats, signed a two-way deal that will pay him $500,000 at the NHL level and $55,000 at the AHL level, with a $30,000 signing bonus.
