DeAngelo Williams said Saturday he is happy the Carolina Panthers drafted Jonathan Stewart with their first pick in last week's NFL draft -- even if it means Stewart becomes the team's starting running back."It didn't bother me at all," said Williams, who had been penciled in as the starter after DeShaun Foster was released in the offseason. "I still have the same mind-set, whether I'm the starter or not the starter."This is the National Football League. Every year, there's another quarterback, wide receiver, offensive lineman, defensive lineman. They're just reloading."There's always competition."Williams and Stewart have different styles, with Williams more of an elusive runner who relies on his quickness and Stewart going, as he has said, "north and south.""Everybody's going to the two-back system," Williams said after Saturday's minicamp practice."So whether he or I start it off, we're probably going to get same amount of carries, give or take."GROSS UPDATE: The last guy off the practice field following the afternoon practice was Jordan Gross. He stayed late to work on his footwork after his move from right tackle to left tackle. As for the contract negotiations on a long-term deal for him, Gross said he and the Panthers have not been very far apart, but mostly ran out of time before he had to sign his tender as a franchised unrestricted free agent. They have until mid-July to get a deal done.EMMITT SMITH HAS MESSAGE FOR NEW COWBOY: Emmitt Smith has some advice for suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones: Stay out of trouble."As long as you're not killing anybody, getting anybody shot at and going to jail, then I don't have any issues," said Smith, NFL career rushing leader. The former star running back for Dallas visited Cowboys rookie minicamp Saturday."Your personal life is your personal life," Smith added. " As long as you're out here on the practice field performing like you're supposed to and not getting into any trouble. I'm not going to tell you what you should be doing."Smith said he thought the trade to get was a good trade to bolster the Dallas secondary."Pacman is a grown man," Smith said. "He understands the do's and don'ts, the rights and wrongs. He has choices to make. Hopefully he starts making better choices."STEELERS MOVES: Rookie free-agent wide receiver Kevin Marion signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday after another receiver failed his physical.Dorien Bryant, a wide receiver from Purdue who likely would have competed to be one of the Steelers' kick returners, was released.
