APEX -- Leesville Road built a 33-0 halftime lead and went on to rout Apex 47-7 Friday night.

Leesville (3-0) scored on its first four possessions and tacked on its fifth touchdown thanks to Cody Lyon's 90-yard interception return late in the second quarter.

"Right now, at this point in time, that's probably about as well as we can play," Pride coach David Green said of the first half. "But we want to get better. If they want to play in December, they'll have to play like that and get better."

Leesville's defense held the Cougars (2-1) to 55 yards and three first downs in the first half. By night's end, the Pride forced four turnovers, including two Lyon interceptions.

Apex running back Kevin Fogg, who averaged 138 yards in the Cougars' first two games, was held to 24 yards on eight carries. He went down late in the first half with leg cramps and never returned.

"As we got in the game, about anything we did went wrong," Apex coach Bob Wolfe said. "That happens."

Leesville quarterback Thomas Wilson (11-for-15, 139 yards, 4 TD passes) hit Cameron Todd for a 32-yard TD with 4:55 to play in the first quarter.

Apex fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Leesville took over at the Apex 25. Four plays later, Wilson hit Taylor Gentry over the middle for a 6-yard TD pass.

Leesville got the ball back after a three-and-out by Apex and scored again, this time on a 2-yard keeper by Wilson.

After another Apex three-and-out, Leesville's Zach Greene returned the punt 66 yards to the Apex 6-yard-line. Three plays later, Wilson found Logan Perlini in the end zone for his third TD pass of the half and a 26-0 lead.

Apex crossed midfield for the first time on its next series, but the drive died on third and 22 when Lyon intercepted Apex QB Houston Hawley and raced 90 yards the other way for another TD.

Wilson threw another touchdown pass to Todd in the third quarter, and backup QB Logan Bible scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.
