While it was a bundle-up cold morning in the Triangle, it was not one for the record books.
The low temperature at Raleigh-Durham International Airport was 15, according to the National Weather Service. That's comfortably higher than the record low for this date of 10 set in 1977.
The state was almost uniformly cold this morning; Asheville in the mountains and Rocky Mount on the coastal plain both recorded lows of 16.
Temperatures aren't expected to get out of the 30s today, and a fast-moving storm system could bring a few sprinkles or snow showers tonight, particularly along the Virginia border.
Milder air returns Wednesday, with highs near 50, but it won't get any warmer than that the rest of the week.
