Several things of interest to North Raleigh residents cropped up on The News & Observer's blogs recently, from giant crabs to a closed Armadillo.

We'd like to hear your thoughts. Read these items and check out our blogs, then e-mail us your thoughts. We may feature them in this space in a future edition of North Raleigh News.

Waiting for Whole Foods

From Sue Stock's Taking Stock blog

It looks like Whole Foods is finally going to build a second store in Raleigh. The store will anchor a new shopping center in North Raleigh, off Six Forks and Strickland roads.

The good news is that the new store should be more accessible for folks in North Raleigh and should relieve some of the pressure on the existing Raleigh Whole Foods.

The bad news? Development is still pending approval of a rezoning application, and even with a speedy approval, the new store probably won't open until 2010.

What do you think? Is this the site you would have picked? And can you wait a couple of years? Share your thoughts with us at NRnews@newsobserver.com.

FEELING CRABBY: Jake the Crab is hanging out atop Crabtree Valley Mall for a few days. The big inflatable crustacean is to announce the new McCormick & Schmick's seafood restaurant, which is scheduled to open Thursday.

What do you think? Do you like the look of Jake, or does it creep you out a bit? Let us know at NRnews@newsobserver.com.

I just got an e-mail from a reader asking me to recommend some restaurants that are open for lunch on Saturday. So, what do you say? Any favorite Saturday lunch spots in North Raleigh you'd like to share? Tell us at NRNews@newsobserver.com. We'll pass your suggestions along to Greg for his master list, too.

PET PEEVES: Greg also wants to know your restaurant pet peeves. Tell us what bugs you about area restaurants.

ARMADILLO GRILL: The Armadillo Grill in Wake Forest has closed, but the other locations are still going strong.
