We asked you two weeks ago what you think of the news that Whole Foods plans to open a second Raleigh grocery, this time in North Raleigh. As N&O business writer Sue Stock reported on her Taking Stock blog, it will anchor a new shopping center off Six Forks and Strickland roads.
The good news is that the new store should be more accessible for North Raleigh folks and should relieve some of the pressure on the existing Raleigh Whole Foods at Ridgewood Shopping Center.
The bad news is that development is still pending approval of a rezoning application. Even with a speedy approval, the new store probably won't open until 2010.
Your emphatic verdict:
1) Great!
2) Why wait?
Here's what some of you said ...
The location is perfect! The wait until 2010 is totally unacceptable!
I lived near Whole Foods in Chapel Hill for nine years and know how great it is. After moving to North Raleigh in June 2004, I have missed Whole Foods! I have traveled to the store near Wade Avenue, but that is too far.

It would be nice if they built a Whole Foods in the North Hills shopping area either off Lassiter Mill or across Six Forks Road in the area presently under construction. Our area could really use a Whole Foods.
-- Dolores Batts, Raleigh
Expeditiously opening a store in North Raleigh is more important than exact location. Anywhere off Falls of Neuse, Six Forks, or Creedmoor roads would be great. The sooner the better!
