Go the extra hole, get a hot dog:

Prices for the special dogs range from $4.50 for The Bunker Bag (a hot dog, chips and a soft drink) to $9 for The Big Deluxe (two dogs, chips and an Arnold Palmer, Arizona Beverages' refreshing blend of tea and lemonade.)

Hoop it up with Hoop Magicians:

Bring your family out for an exciting and enjoyable afternoon of basketball between Durham's Police Department, celebrities, church pastors, deacons and the "Hoop Magicians" today at 3 p.m. at Hillside High School, 3727 Fayetteville St.

The Hoop Magicians have engaged audiences for years with dynamic personalities, trick-hoops, acrobatic slams and skilled play that is grounded in fundamental basketball principles.

The event will benefit The John Avery Boys & Girls Club, Parents of Murdered Children, and the faith-based community.

What's on the calendar:

The annual reunion of graduates who finished Durham High School 65 or more years ago will be held Saturday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at the Croasdaile Country Club.

The Class of 1943 will be the honored class and this year's hosts for the event since they will be celebrating the 65th anniversary of their graduation. More than 200 graduates from as far back as the early 1930s have enjoyed a day of fellowship and fun, recalling past events and their love for the old Durham High.

The price to attend is $15 per person. For more information and sign-up sheets, call Bobby Lougee at (919) 383-1717.

'Community Take Back Tour' kicks off in July:

Brian Dawson, a popular radio personality, will launch the "Community Take Back Tour" Friday, July 18, from noon to 3 p.m. at the John Avery Boys & Girls Club.

This will be one of the Triangle's biggest community events of the summer with participation from several area businesses, city officials, community leaders and activists, and the media. There will be a panel discussion, teen forum and youth activities.

The event will culminate with a free outdoor cookout at 2 p.m.
