Each week, a Triangle wine seller offers recommendations in three price ranges: less than $10, $10-$20 and $20 or more. This week's picks come from the folks at Total Wine & More, which has five locations in the Triangle.
Deal Domaine St. Antoine Rosé, France 2006, $9.99. An excellent blend of Syrah and Grenache loaded with flavor and intensity. The wine displays a fragrant nose of strawberry jam. Bursting with layers of fresh fruit and vibrant acidity. Perfect for picnic fare.
Moderation Rutherglen "The Reunion" MSG, Australia 2006, $14.99. Beautiful aromas of spice, pepper and dark fruits waft from the glass of this tasty blend of Mourvèdre, Shiraz and Grenache. Delicious red berry fruit and pepper elements blend with notes of vanilla on the delightful finish. Great with barbecued ribs.
Splurge Clos St. Michel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve, France 2005, $39.99. Intensely aromatic, this wine is a hedonistic pleasure spilling over with intense black cherry and spice flavors, ending with a long and satisfying finish. Pair this with your favorite red meat off the grill.
