NC Zoo Director David Jones sets date for retiring

David Jones, who has led the N.C. Zoo for more than 20 years, said Monday he will retire from his post in September, making way for Patricia Simmons to take over the job of promoting and expanding the world-renowned park.

Roxane Gay: Sandra Bland, 28, was pulled over earlier this month in Waller County, Texas, by a state trooper, Brian T. Encinia. She was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. She shouldn’t have been pulled over, but she was driving while black, and the reality is that black women and men are pulled over every day for this infraction.
