Finding the perfect name for your business can be a daunting task, and once you've found the right one, being forced to give it up can be a nightmare.

But Andrew Leager is taking it all in stride.

The proprietor of the soon-to-open Sidetrack Brewpub in downtown Raleigh received a cease and desist letter from a Chicago lawyer who represents a place called The Sidetrack that has a trademark on the word.

Rather than fight a long and expensive legal battle, Leager decided to rename his business the Boylan Bridge Brewpub.

"I'd rather buy construction supplies," he said.

The change required Leager to redo the bar's logo, build a new Web site and file some new legal work. But he said he likes the new name because it reflects the Boylan Heights community.

"At least we hadn't made any investment in signage or glasses or T-shirts or anything," he said. "We've recovered and moved on."

The Boylan Bridge Brewpub -- already being called just "The Bridge" by some fans -- should open at 201 S. Boylan Ave. in six weeks to two months.

In Cary, Every Bloomin' Thing florist moved out of The Shoppes of Kildaire because the construction there made access to the store difficult. Its new store is open at 118 Kilmayne Drive, next to Big Lots, just in time for Mother's Day.

Tossed, a restaurant chain that focuses on fresh salads, crepes, sandwiches and soups, will open its first North Carolina location late this summer in Morrisville's McCrimmon Corners, at 4117 Davis Drive.

There's a new gourmet popcorn company called The Mad Popper in Durham's Homestead Market shopping center at 105 W. N.C. 54. Popping traditional flavors such as caramel and cheddar, plus more exotic flavors such as Carolina BBQ, chocolate-covered cheesecake and green apple, it could be the spot for a sweet treat.
