TowerCo to buy 3,300 cell towers

CARY - TowerCo, a Cary wireless tower developer backed by billionaire investor George Soros, has agreed to buy 3,300 cell towers from Sprint Nextel for about $670 million.

TowerCo, which was founded in 2004, will lease back the towers to Sprint, allowing that company to focus on its mobile phone business.

GSK to back Harvard stem cell research

BOSTON -- GlaxoSmithKline will give the Harvard Stem Cell Institute at least $25 million over five years to speed development of treatments using the technology.

Scientists will use the money to explore using stem cells to fight cancer, diabetes and obesity along with nerve, heart and musculoskeletal diseases.
