The Apple Gold Group, franchisee of Applebee's restaurants in North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arkansas, announced that its annual fundraising program for The V Foundation for Cancer Research raised $75,000. The money was presented to The V Foundation at Apple Gold Group's employee event called "The Applebee's Knowledge Spectacular." The Clayton Center, in Clayton, donated its facility to Applebee's and The V Foundation for the event.

East Carolina University College of Business announced the establishment of more than 20 scholarships as a result of a charitable gift from alumnus and retired businessman David A. Bond and his wife, Pamela S. Bond. Each scholarship will total $5,000 to cover the cost of in-state tuition, fees and books. Bond is the former president of the HealthMatics division of Allscripts.

Crosland, a real-estate company in Raleigh, donated $20,000 to the W.I. Patterson Neighborhood Center for the after-school tutorial and youth summer job programs. Crosland has also committed $20,000 over the next four years, for a total of $40,000.

Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston is a statewide partner and event sponsor of the 2008 Special Olympics North Carolina Summer Games to be held in Raleigh on June 6-8. The company donated $7,500 to fund the summer games and will also provide a group of volunteers for the weekend of the event.
