Restaurant puts workers in place for opening

McCormick & Schmick's, a seafood restaurant opening Thursday at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, has hired about 75 employees for its operations.

Those workers will include Robert Berbary, who was named general manager, and Domhnall Molloy, who was named executive chef.

Berbary, 49, previously worked with the Capitol City Chop House in Raleigh and Bentley's at Crossroads in Cary.

Molloy, 31, was executive chef at McCormick & Schmick's restaurant in Kansas City.

In other moves ...

Jennifer Amster, director of higher education projects at BJAC, has been named a partner with the firm. BJAC is an architectural firm with offices in Raleigh and Charlotte.

Kimberly A. Parsons was appointed vice president of operations at Talis Management Group, a property management firm with offices in Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Sanford.

Angela Levesque was hired as Web designer and Ashley Zack as an account manager at Harbinger, a communications firm in Raleigh.

Kyle Forrester and William Kemp have been hired as electrical designers at the engineering firm Dewberry in Raleigh. Daniel R. Koenigshofer, principal of IES Engineers-Dewberry in Chapel Hill, has been named vice president; Donald R. Burroughs, senior mechanical engineer, has been named senior associate; Robert A. Wolff has been named an associate and Charles T. Worthy Jr., senior project manager, has been promoted to associate.

Latonya Croney, a deposit portfolio administrator in BB&T's deposit services department, was promoted to senior vice president.

Chris Gupton was hired as art director in the interactive department at Howard, Merrell & Partners, a Raleigh advertising and branding firm.

Will Dickson and Gary Bromberger have been hired as associates at Craig Davis Properties of Cary.

Molly Miller, founder and creator of Bickett Gallery, joined Lee Tripi Design in Raleigh as a collaborator and member of the design team.

Mary C. Hackney joined The DiLeone Law Group in Raleigh as an intern associate.

Richard Averitte was hired as director of marketing for Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q, based in Cary.

Richard J. Steele joined Smith Debnam Narron Drake Saintsing & Myers as a partner in the creditors' rights practice group. The law firm has offices in Raleigh and Charlotte.

Bradley Carroll joined SIA Group insurance agency in Jacksonville as a production underwriter.

Eric Minuskin joined French/West/Vaughan's sports and entertainment practice as a group account director; Danielle Appelman joined as an account coordinator and Amanda Church as a marketing assistant. Debbie Herbold joined the accounting department; Wendy McCarthy was promoted to vice president, Paige Parker was promoted to group account director, Kristin Kelly was promoted to account supervisor, Derek Ross was promoted to senior account executive, and Chelsea Cullen was promoted to account executive.

Erika Erwin joined RSM McGladrey as a manager in the risk management consulting services practice in Raleigh. RSM McGladrey provides accounting, tax and business consulting.

StepUP Ministry, which provides job- and life-skills development, has appointed members to its board: Sheldon Fox with KDI Capital Partners, Jennings Glen of Kane Realty Corp., Doyle Parrish of Summit Hospitality Group, Al Rankin, a retired public relations executive, Kemp Reece of Davenport & Co., Mary Sibrack of StepUP, Katherine Thomas of Progress Energy and Bob Wright, who is retired from Kimley-Horn and Associates.

Marvin H. McKinney, a visiting research fellow at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at UNC-Chapel Hill, has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of the Altarum Institute, a nonprofit health systems research group.

Steven B. Epstein, a partner at Hunton & Williams in Raleigh, was elected vice chairman of Community Partnership's board of directors.

George Weyerhaeuser Jr. has been elected board chairman of the Institute of Forest Biotechnology in Raleigh. He is a senior fellow in the president's office at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mark Vaughn, compliance manager at Crescent State Bank, has been named to the Community Investment Corp. of the Carolinas' board of directors.

John L. Thoma, CEO of Hospice of Wake County, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of the Association for Home & Hospice Care of North Carolina.

Dan Ahlport, senior director of benefits at RTI International, has been appointed to the Statewide Flexible Benefits Advisory Committee.

Accountant Rhonda Clark McNairy was appointed to the Triangle United Way audit committee.

Richard Bryant, founder and president of Capital Investment Cos., was named to the N.C. State University Endowment Fund's board of directors.
