Gerry Jacobs and Katie Salter were named to the Subway restaurants account at MSA of Morrisville, an advertising and marketing agency. Jacobs joined MSA as senior account manager. Salter is assistant account executive .

Ke Chen was promoted to research scientist II at Eisai's pharmaceutical-production and formulation research and development facility in Research Triangle Park. Stuart Pullen was promoted to senior research scientist in the analytical department, and Jane Winkleman was promoted to research scientist I and manager. Eisai is the U.S. pharmaceutical subsidiary of Eisai Co., a health-care company that focuses on research.

Durham advertising agency McKinney promoted several executives. Jeremy Holden was promoted to partner and executive vice president, director of account planning. Doug Holroyd was promoted to partner and executive vice president, director of connection planning. John Newall was promoted to partner and executive vice president, group account director and director of strategic alliances. Janet Northen was promoted to partner and executive vice president, director of agency communications. Jim Russell was promoted to partner and executive vice president, director of digital strategy. Ellen Steinberg was promoted to partner and executive vice president, group creative director.

Paul Borrelli was appointed managing partner of Tatum's Raleigh and Charlotte practices. Tatum is an executive services firm.

Paul Devlin has been named director of the SAS Capital Markets' U.S. practice. SAS of Cary provides business intelligence and analytical software and services.

Quincy Monk was hired as managing director at Argentum Capital Management in Durham, which provides financial consulting and wealth-planning services. Monk was also appointed to UNC-Chapel Hill's Board of Visitors.

John S. Russell was named a partner in the Research Triangle Park office of K&L Gates. Russell focuses his practice on the life-sciences sector.

Mike Brown joined Professional Builders Supply in Morrisville as vice president of sales and marketing.

On the boards ...

Nelson Gibson was appointed to the advisory board of Crop Microclimate Management, a Research Triangle Park company that develops, manufactures and markets products and services to the agriculture industry for the management of environmental stresses in crops.

Julie LaDue, creative director at Hummingbird Creative Group, has been named to the Durham Public Schools Academy Parent Advocacy Board for the academically gifted or intellectually gifted.

David L. Blain, president and chief investment officer at D.L. Blain & Co. in New Bern, was appointed to the finance committee of the board of the West Point Association of Graduates.

L. Neal Ellis Jr., a partner with the Raleigh office of Hunton & Williams, was elected to the N.C. Bar Association board of governors and executive committee.

Steven B. Long of Williams Mullen Law Firm in Raleigh has been appointed chairman of the N.C. Bar Association's tax section for 2008-2009. Long is a partner in the firm's tax and employee benefits sections.

The N.C. Foot and Ankle Society, an organization of licensed podiatrists, elected officers. Tim Vogler of High Point was named president, Kirk Woelffer of Raleigh was named vice president, James Judge of Wake Forest was named treasurer, and Bruce Fawcett of Raleigh was named secretary. The group's headquarters is in Raleigh.
