Articulon, a Raleigh branding and public relations firm, received three Sir Walter Raleigh Awards from the Raleigh Public Relations Society. The company received a gold award and a Best in Division Award for its campaign for public radio station WCPE -- TheClassicalStation.org. It received an Honorable Mention for the John Rex Endowment 2007 Hands of Health Award Breakfast. In addition, Articulon won two 2008 Communicator Awards, which recognize the best in communications excellence and are presented and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. The firm also received two print awards.

Sharon Rosche, president of the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, graduated from the Institute for Organization Management, a four-year leadership training program at the University of Georgia. Graduates of the institute receive the IOM designation, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in association, chamber and nonprofit management.

Dean Dornic of Raleigh was named one of America's top ophthalmologists by the Consumers' Research Council of America. Dornic practices ophthalmology in Cary and Smithfield and specializes in cataract and lasik surgery.

D.L. Blain & Co. in New Bern was named to Wealth Manager Magazine's 2008 Top Dog List. The list of top wealth managers in the country is published annually and based on average assets under management per client.

Shannon Carter with N.C. State University joined the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), which provides educational and safety programs and features a national certification program.

John L. Pinnix of Allen and Pinnix in Raleigh was awarded the American Immigration Lawyers Association Service Excellence Award. The award is given in recognition of outstanding volunteer service in advancing the mission, development and value of AILA.

Kerala Curry, an Indian food company in Pittsboro, won a gold award in the Outstanding Condiment category at the national Summer Fancy Food Show in New York. Kerala Curry's chutney competed with 2,191 entries in 32 categories, winning a specialty outstanding food innovation gold award. The awards recognize excellence in specialty foods.

Heartland Hospice in Raleigh was awarded HCR ManorCare's president's award at the company's national conference. The president's award is given to the hospice office that demonstrates excellence in leadership and serves as a role model within the company. HCR Manorcare is Heartland Hospice's parent company.

Kimley Horn and Associates, which has offices in Raleigh and Cary, was included in the June 23 Engineering News Record listing of the Top 100 Green Design Firms. The firm was ranked No. 1 in green retail design and in green multi-unit residential design and No. 6 overall.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals Children's Diabetes Energize Program has been selected to receive the Nova Award from the American Hospital Association. The award is given annually to programs that improve community health by extending help to low-income, uninsured or underserved children and adults, the chronically ill, and racial and ethnic minorities.

Kioti Tractor in Wendell and its agency of record, Advantage Marketing Communications, won an international award from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' Measures of Success marketing awards program. Advantage Marketing Communications received a first place award for a three-part direct mail program that it developed for Kioti Tractor.

Quintiles Transnational Corp. was named to Computerworld magazine's 2008 list of 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology. Quintiles ranked No. 37 on the annual ranking. The company is the only major contract research organization in the 2008 report.

Fanning Howey Architects-Engineers has been ranked by Engineering News-Record magazine as one of the 2008 Top 100 Green Design Firms in the United States. Fanning Howey's North Carolina office, The Roberts Group & Fanning Howey, is in Cary.
