The Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, a New Mexico-based nonprofit that researches respiratory diseases, will open a center for pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis.

Five physicians and scientists will move to the center from New Mexico, and Loveless will hire an additional six or seven employees in the next 18 months.

The institute will be among more than half a dozen companies that are setting up shop at the research campus. The $1.5 billion campus is backed by Dole Food owner David Murdock. It is being developed in conjunction with North Carolina universities.
