CHAPEL HILL -- A small company developing a sensor that sniffs out airborne pathogens and poisons has moved its headquarters from Utah to Chapel Hill to tap this region's talent pool.
QualSec, which was founded in 2006, employs four but has plans to add workers, said CEO J.E. Hand. The company's lead product is the NanoNose, a device that the company hopes to sell to law enforcement agencies, the military, hospitals and other customers.
The company was based in North Logan, Utah, but recently leased 2,000 square feet of office space in Chapel Hill. Hand was a corporate lawyer who previously lived in Chapel Hill and wanted to move back.
