Audio Advice, which specializes in the sale and installation of home theater systems, has acquired one of its local competitors and opened a Charlotte store.
The 30-year-old company has one showroom on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh and recently acquired Innovative Systems in Raleigh, which sold similar products and services by appointment only.
Audio Advice president and CEO Scott Newnam declined to provide details of the deal, but he said that Innovative Systems’ 10 local employees have now joined the Audio Advice staff of 50 in its Raleigh location.
In addition, Audio Advice opened a new store at 164 Corporate Blvd. in the Charlotte suburb of Indian Trail this month, its first venture outside of the Triangle.
The move has been in the works for two years, Newnam said, and the timing works now despite the slowing economy. It may even save some money since Audio Advice has customers throughout the state and beyond.
“We have been looking at the Charlotte market for quite awhile,” Newnam said. “A lot of our work is done out in customers’ homes, so a lot of our customers don’t ever come to the store.”
