State Employees' Credit Union will unveil its 1,000th ATM on Friday at a ceremony in Lizard Lick, about 20 miles east of Raleigh. The ATM kiosk will have a giant lizard on top. SECU is a Raleigh-based nonprofit financial cooperative with nearly $17 billion in assets, 1.5 million members and 223 branches across the state.

SAS Curriculum Pathways is now available for free to every educator in America. The Cary company's software provides content in English, mathematics, social studies, science and Spanish and is primarily for use in grades 8-12.

John Denny started a new company in Cary, Alaeras, which designs and manufactures drug delivery systems.

ISD Financial, a financial services company that opened in 2007, has a new Web site, www.isdfinancial.com.

Aldagen, a biopharmaceutical company in Durham that develops regenerative cell therapies, and UC Davis Health System are collaborating to explore the activity of Aldagen's unique adult stem cell population in a preclinical model of ischemic stroke. The stem cells hold promise in the treatment of other neurological disorders as well, including Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, traumatic brain injury and cerebral palsy.

Country Inn & Suites by Carlson opened at 4910 Hayes Place in Wilson. The owner of of the hotel is Shivam Development, and the general manager is Jennifer Jones.

The Chatham County Economic Development Corp. and The Center for Community Self-Help have established the Chatham Loan Fund to help finance loans to entrepreneurs in Chatham County. Anyone starting or operating a business, for profit or not-for-profit, is eligible to apply, with focus on minority and women-owned businesses and youth entrepreneurs (ages 15-35).

CiVentiChem expanded its research and development laboratory in Cary with the launch of CiVentiAnalytical, a new laboratory that offers analytical chemistry services to customers in the life science industry.
