Home builder group names Martin top affiliate

Jenny Martin, real estate/retail new business director at The King Partnership in Raleigh, was named a Top Affiliate Member by the N.C. Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County. Martin was recognized for her numerous contributions and outstanding leadership to the organization.

Raleigh nonprofit Design Corps, along with a design-build project by N.C. State University architecture students, was featured in the U.S. Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. Bryan Bell, Vincent Whitehurst and Victoria Bell were teachers for the project. Kaydos-Daniels Engineers of Raleigh provided engineering. For more than 100 years, the Venice Biennale has been a showcase of notable artists.

Delynn D. Alexander of Raleigh qualified for the 2008 Northwestern Mutual Forum. Alexander will be recognized for her exceptional service to customers and her outstanding year of performance as a wealth management adviser with the Carolina Condrey Group, the Eastern North Carolina office of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.

MMI Associates in Raleigh won two MarCom awards, including a platinum award. MMI was recognized in the category of newspaper placement for the exposure of its client, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, on the cover of Independent Weekly magazine. The firm received an honorable mention in the video, film and marketing category for a video created for Straighterline, another client. The MarCom Awards is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals.

John B. Buse, professor and chief of the division of endocrinology and metabolism at UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Medicine, received the Banting Medal for Service from the American Diabetes Association.

Exceptional IT Services in Cary achieved Select Certification from Cisco, which recognizes Cisco resale channel partners whose primary focus is on the small and medium-sized business market with fewer than 250 employees. To earn certification, Exceptional IT Services fulfilled the training and exam requirements and also met the personnel, training and post-sales support requirements set forth by Cisco.

Duke University Hospital was awarded a Level 3 Advancement Award by the N.C. Awards for Excellence. The award is given to organizations that have built sound processes through a systematic approach and produced effective results.

BBH Design in Research Triangle Park received a First Place Design Award from the Design Build Institute of America for the Brownleigh Building. The project, which includes the BBH Design Office, the Umstead Park United Church of Christ and Interior Architecture and Design Office, won in the category Best Renovation/Rehabilitation/Restoration Project.

StepUp Ministry, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing people to become self-sufficient, announced the recipients of its annual volunteer and community support awards. Brian J. Kelleher and Junior League of Raleigh were awarded the Jubilee Volunteer Award. Triangle Cleaning Service was awarded the Outstanding Community Support Award.

Don Mead, president of Atreus Homes and Communities, Raleigh division, was recognized by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County as 2008 Home Builder of the Year for outstanding service to the Association and for his service to the community.

Deborah Miles, owner of Milestone Academy in Raleigh, has been awarded national accreditation from the National Association of Family Child Care.

Basil "Boz" Marchi of Raleigh has been recognized by Allstate Insurance for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and financial service sales. Marchi received the Allstate Regional Champions Award for outstanding performance in 2007.

William S. Mills and Stewart W. Fisher of the Durham law firm Glenn, Mills, Fisher & Mahoney have been selected for the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Mills was chosen in the specialty of personal injury litigation and Fisher in the field of labor and employment law.

Attorney Tacker LeCarpentier, director of structured products with Lawyers Mutual/Lawyers Insurance in Cary, earned the Certified Structured Settlement Consultant designation from the National Structured Settlement Trade Association.

Terry Boylan, a landscape architect with ESP Associates in Cary, passed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design exam and is now an accredited LEED professional in the area of new construction and major renovation.
