The Jesse Kalisher Gallery in Carrboro raised $1,200 in its fourth annual auction for the Fisher House Foundation, which provides free housing for the families of military wounded within walking distance of hospitals.

Golden Corral and its 485 restaurants across the nation served 322,000 dinner buffets and helped raise $727,000 for Disabled American Veterans on Golden Corral's eighth annual Military Appreciation Day.

RBC Bank is awarding $27,500 to 50 teachers in the Southeast through its sixth annual Tribute to Teachers program. Also, the bank will partner with sister company RBC Wealth Management to include teachers in Minneapolis, Minn., Oakland, Calif., and Syracuse, N.Y.

The Ridgewood Turkey Trot, a competitive 8K-run held at Ridgewood Shopping Center in Raleigh, raised about $16,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Eastern North Carolina.

Cary Community Foundation has awarded 27 grants totaling $55,000 to nonprofit organizations whose community service efforts will benefit Cary citizens in the areas of arts and culture, family and children or community development.

Harris Teeter Harvest Feast Food Drive raised $199,889 for local food banks. The Harris Teeter in Apex was the company's top selling store in the Triangle area. The Interfaith Food Shuttle was the beneficiary of the food drive in the Triangle.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation donated $42,356 to Advocates for Health in Action. The grant will be used to develop an infrastructure database showing locations of physical activity and healthy food choice opportunities.
