Gigabit, a tiny Raleigh company that develops applications for the iPhone, today announced its first product under its own brand name.

HealthSync enables iPhone users to manage their personal medical records. It stores key data such as vital signs, medications, allergies, immunization records, lab results and appointments. It also provides access to detailed information about more than 3,000 prescription drugs, according to the company.

It's family-friendly as well because it stores information for multiple users. That makes it ideal for parents keeping track of their children's health, or families who are taking care of aging parents, said Brian Arthur, the company's president.

Founded in 2007, Gigabit previously has developed iPhone applications for customers such as Johnson & Johnson and Capital One. The company consists of Arthur and a partner based in South Carolina, plus a contractor who's hired as needed.

HealthSync costs $2.99 and is sold through the iTunes App Store. It can be found in the "medical" and "health and lifestyle" categories.

Gigabit also is holding a drawing for a free Apple iTouch. Visit http://gigabitt.blogdns.com to register. You'll also be asked to fill out a survey that Gigabit will use to develop future versions of HealthSync.
