Hamilton Hill and Associate Scaffolding received honors in the small-business category at the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce's annual Small Business Excellence Awards. Caring House and the Council for Entrepreneurial Development won honors in the category for nonprofit groups.

William M. Yeager, zoning inspector for the city of Raleigh, completed the N.C. Association of Zoning Officials Certification course.

Ficquette Insurance Agency in Chapel Hill has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Co. for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability. As a result, Ficquette Insurance Agency earned an invitation to Allstate's Chairman's Conference.

Internet Retailer magazine listed Replacements at No. 174 on its annual Top 500 Guide for 2007. The guide ranks America's 500 largest e-retailers based on annual Web sales. Greensboro-based Replacements supplies old and new china, crystal, silver and collectibles.

Jeffrey A. Miller of Edward Jones in Raleigh achieved the professional Certified Financial Planner certification.

Wake Forest resident Pete Stam, a senior account executive at Assurant Employee Benefits, won the Senior Vice President's Award, which acknowledges the member who submits the most voluntary new business premiums. Stam also was named a sales leader for achieving 176 percent of his goal in 2006.

Flora J. Moorman, director of the Hamner Conference Center of the N.C. Biotechnology Center, has received her Certification in Meeting Management. Moorman has also been honored as a Meeting Professional to Watch in 2007 by Convention South, a journal for meeting professionals.

Stantec's Raleigh office was honored as a finalist in the national 2007 Engineering Excellence Award competition for its U.S. 17 super-street project in Leland. The competition is hosted by the American Council of Engineering Companies. The project upgraded a 1.3 mile section of U.S. 17, creating one of the state's first modified super-streets.

Action for Children North Carolina senior fellow Tom Vitaglione was awarded the Advocacy/Public Policy Power of Prevention Award at the annual Health and Wellness Trust Fund N.C. Health Summit, held at the Raleigh WakeMed campus.

John S. Clark Co. , a general contractor with offices in Mount Airy, Winston-Salem, Greensboro and Wilmington, was the ninth-largest contractor completing work in North Carolina during 2006, according to Southeast Construction.

Carolina Turkeys in Mount Olive was recognized by Panera Bread as its 2006 Supplier of the Year at an awards ceremony in Charlotte.

Sullivan's Steakhouse was named the Best Steakhouse in the Triangle by RelocateTriangle.com, a blog offering information for people who are moving or planning to move to the Triangle.

Dorothy B. Burch, a partner at Ragsdale Liggett, received the 2007 Meredith College Career Achievement Award at the Meredith College Alumnae Awards ceremony held May 18.

Crabtree Valley Mall won the Best Major Retail Development Champion Award from Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women at the TCREW Champion Awards in Cary.

Jennings, a Chapel Hill branding and advertising agency, won three national awards for UNC Health Care in the 2007 Aster Awards competition. The Aster Awards recognize excellence in health care and medical marketing throughout the United States.

Coldwell Banker Commercial TradeMark Properties in Raleigh received the 2007 Commercial Elite Award from Coldwell Banker Commercial. The company was one of 15 nationwide to receive the commercial elite status, the highest honor presented by Coldwell Banker Commercial.

Blue Ribbon Residential Construction received the 2007 Star Award for Best Attic Over $100,000 from the HomeBuilders Association of Raleigh-Wake County.

Duplin Winery in Rose Hill earned the label "Certified, Women Love It" for seven of its wines that received medals in the National Women Winemaker's Challenge, which was held in Santa Rosa, Calif. Duplin Winery received four silver awards for its Hatteras Red, Scuppernong, Carolina Red and Pink Magnolia wines. The winery's Magnolia, Midnight Magnolia and Scuppernong Blush wines were awarded bronze.

Home Instead Senior Care honored business owners David and Bonnie Thommarson of Durham for outstanding business performance. The Thommarsons received a Leadership Award at the company's international convention, held in Omaha, Neb.
